'Applied' is a perfect example of Misconception based production, the film builds up to what we assume to be a job interview. The two characters are in a lift going up and have time to chat about previous interview experience and how nerving it can be. The producer has used a clean form of editing that matches the feel of the film, the use of slide transitions between cuts keeps the film flowing smoothly and maintains the viewers interest.
The strong point of this production is the non-diagetic sound that is mainly constant however it has a break point where there is silence, this interval has been well crafted to enhance the characters confusion. Over the time spent discussing tips and tricks for an interview in the elevator we as viewers are secure in the knowledge that this is a job interview, this is the point where the producer has decided to add the twist, as the doors open and the characters walk out the discussion then reveals that it is not an interview and that it is a meeting for an arranged marriage.

After watching a few times I have gained some pointers for my film production that I see as very important, the coalition of sound with editing and the ability to imply something to the audience to the point where they are certain and then change it. I aim to use these factors in my production.
